I truly love this place, my home Whitehorse. There’s something quietly electrifying about being surrounded by coworkers whose integrity and curiosity continually challenge me to grow. Working in service of family and community brings a sense of meaning that feels increasingly rare; it stirs something ancient and essential in me. My heart sings for the small, beautiful acts of solidarity we perform every day. All I want, really, is to paint, to read, to think freely—somehow to slip the noose of capital and live within the life of the mind. Here’s to that quiet resistance. #fucko

The end of April and early spring in Carcross Yukon.
The conference this week was not my thing, but the drive while listening to and catching up on podcasts made it worth while. This is looking towards Skagway Alaska, and the route taken by settlers during the gold rush called the Chilkoot Trail.

This historic site is slated for removal by Parks Canada. Once privately owned by the Kovacs family—longtime Whitehorse residents and close friends of ours—it has been a meaningful gathering place for many over the years. I grew up visiting this spot and have countless memories tied to it. It’s heartbreaking to see such a special place on the verge of being lost.
